Remarks:

U2 perform the fifteenth of thirty six shows at the Sphere at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas. Attendance is 18,600; a sellout. Tickets range from $140 to $500 (for presale ticket prices) but many sell at resale prices of $400 to $1,450. The opening music act is Pauli "The PSM" Lovejoy, who is the official Atomic MC / DJ host of the UV Dance Party opening each U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere concert.

Bono kicks off "The Fly" with a celebratory yell marking the end of Celtic Samhain: "Come on Wednesday night, no, no, New Year's Eve!" Prior to "All I Want Is You", Bono speaks at length about Brian Eno, art, science, and the love shared with U2 fans. Here's an excerpt from Bono's speech: "It's not exactly side one or side two, but it's close. We can flip the script because we stand on Brian Eno's turntable. Brian Eno played his first shows in ten years just the last week. We wish you well on those shows. We love Brian Eno... we owe so much to him. We'd like to think that the sphere is kind of the shape of Brian Eno's brain. A perfect marriage of art and science, sort of thing. Now we're not gambling men, but we would make a bet on the marriage of art and science."

Here's what Bono says regarding band introductions: "Can I just say, that we are in a band with the most mesmerizing man, the most extraordinary bass player, human being... who are you? Still don't feel that I know. Now your bass parts, can I say this, your bass parts never get old. You sir, never get old. I mean you go to shows, you might feel the bass, but you don't notice the bass player. We notice Adam Clayton! And we're in the band. Now, let me introduce you to our musical director to say how difficult it is, to describe you, and what it is that you do. I'm not sure that even you know. A mystery even to himself. Our non-card-playing, card-carrying genius: The Edge! And who else do we have on the stage? Well, he's too tall, he's too good looking, he has the humility and the confidence to sit on Larry Mullen's drum stool. And if you can pronounce his name, you would scream it out: Bram van den Berg... on the drums! Let me introduce you to one more. One of the humblest men I've ever met, kind to children, his friends, and animals. A giant in his own mind. On the vocals: my name is Bono."

Snippets sung tonight are aplenty with Bono singing a bit of the Simple Minds' "New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84)" during "Mysterious Ways", "Sign of the Times" by Harry Styles during "All I Want Is You", Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone" after "Angel of Harlem", and a rare snippet of U2's "Gloria" during "Beautiful Day".
