Remarks:
U2 perform the fourth of forty shows at the Sphere at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas. Attendance is 18,600; a sellout. Tickets range from $140 to $500 (for presale ticket prices) but many sell at resale prices of $400 to $1,450. The opening music act is Pauli "The PSM" Lovejoy, who is the official Atomic MC / DJ host of the UV Dance Party opening each U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere concert.
Tonight's gig sees the debut of two songs that have not yet been performed at the Sphere at The Venetian Resort: "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and "Pride (In the Name of Love)". Bono states that this is a "greatest hits" show with the inclusion of both of these old classics. In addition, a snippet of "MLK" is performed after "Angel of Harlem", the only holdover song from the previous three concerts. New snippets also include David Bowie's "Young Americans", Primal Scream's "Movin' On Up", the Rolling Stones's "It's Only Rock and Roll (But I Like It)", and Pearl Jam's "Alive".
A Venezuelan fan is brought up to the stage for a swing on the aerial silk during "Tryin' to Throw Your Arms Around the World". After the song is over, Bono says: "Maybe we thought that the whole point of being in a rock and roll band was that you didn't have to grow up, but we've run out of that road. Okay, long ways to go there." For "Pride (In the Name of Love)", drummer Bram van den Berg (who is filling in for Larry Mullen Jr. at the Sphere), facilitates the very first "Songs of Surrender" performance of the song. Afterwards, Bono compliments him and says: "Very cool, thank you sir."
In attendance at this evening's show is Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam, who receives a thrilling ovation from many adoring fans. Also present is Lady Gaga, George Clooney, and Tom Brady. During "With or Without You", Bono gives a call out to Morleigh Steinberg, The Edge's wife and famed bellydancer on the Zoo TV Tour.
