Remarks:
U2 make a triumphant return to Paris to play the first of two shows that were cancelled due to the November 13 Paris attacks. During "I Will Follow", Bono exclaims to the audience: "Our prayer tonight is to be useful to you... it's an honor and privilege to serve you this evening." The words in "Pride" are slightly modified to: "Early evening, November 13th, shots rung out in the Paris sky." The blue, white and red colors of the French flag light up the arena during "City of Blinding Lights" while all the victims of the terrorist attacks are displayed on the screen. "Ordinary Love" is performed for only the second time on the European leg of the tour, and its dedicated to Nelson Mandela who died 2 years ago yesterday. The show contained 27 songs which ties for the most songs performed in a U2 concert ever. In the encore, rock and roll legend Patti Smith joined the band onstage towards the end of "Bad" and performed her own version of "Gloria" with Bono and "People Have the Power" with the entire band. Patti Smith performed this final song with U2 back on October 29 in London as well.
