Remarks:
The final show of U2's Innocence + Experience Tour happened tonight in Paris, France, and was made up for the November 15 date that was cancelled due to last month's Paris terrorist attacks. The show was recorded for HBO's live broadcast that was to be transmitted later in the evening for audiences in the USA. This fourth show contained a number of pleasant surprises including an extended bridge in "Vertigo" with Bono introducing the entire band. The contest winners from U2.com are brought up on the e-stage and walkway and rejoice. During "Zooropa", Bono changes some of the lyrics in the song and exclaims: "What do you want? Do you want us to be afraid? To turn away from our neighbors? You will not have our hatred. You will not have our hatred. We choose love over fear! Love over fear!" Like the previous night's show, the video screen displays a rolling list of the victims of the Paris attacks while the colors of the French flag illuminate the arena during "City of Blinding Lights". The songs "Elevation" and "One" are performed in all 4 concerts in Paris, making this a first on the entire tour. The biggest highlight of the night came though in the very final song when Bono brought out the Eagles of Death Metal to perform "People Have the Power", a band who tragically lost 89 people in their audience during the deadly attacks. Bono: "They were robbed of their stage three weeks ago, so we would like to offer them ours." In an incredibly bold move, U2 walked off the stage and let the Eagles of Death Metal close out the show with their own song "I Love You All the Time".
