Remarks:
U2 perform the second of forty shows at the Sphere at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas. Attendance is 18,600; a sellout. Tickets range from $140 to $500 (for presale ticket prices) but many sell at resale prices of $400 to $1,450. The opening music act is Pauli "The PSM" Lovejoy, who is the official Atomic MC / DJ host of the UV Dance Party opening each U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere concert. Pauli The PSM's set begins at around 7:44 PM and lasts a little over an hour.
After a bit of a late start, U2 take to the stage at around 9:12 PM. Tonight's setlist is a carbon copy of last night's show that kicked off U2's Las Vegas residency. A few variations at this concert include different snippets sung by Bono including: Edith Piaf's "Non, je ne regrette rien" (during "Until the End of the World"), "I Feel Love" from Donna Summer (towards the end of "Mysterious Ways"), "Walk on the Wild Side" by Lou Reed (after "All I Want Is You"), Sinéad O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U" (during "With or Without You"), and "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong (after "Beautiful Day").
One notable moment occurs about one minute into "Vertigo" when a veteran stage crasher named Amp Bains, a physician from NYC, is transported up to the stage via a motorized platform. Dressed in a red beanie and green t-shirt, the longtime fan sings and dances with Bono and spends about 90 seconds on the stage. At the end of "With or Without You", Bono looks up into the rafters before walking up to the mic and saying: "Amen. Thank you for coming to see us play the Sphere. Edge, Adam, myself want to thank Bram van den Berg standing in for Larry Mullen." Afterwards, the quartet give each other hugs and clap along with the cheering fans.
