Remarks:
U2 make a surprise appearance live in Las Vegas on the corner of Fremont and Main Street. The band perform their new single "Atomic City" as well as "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" on a flatbed truck, and later on a stage in front of the Carousel Bar at the Plaza Hotel. U2 rehearse "Atomic City" several times while shooting their new music video, while a crowd of about 250 extras gather to watch live. Bono mimes/sings live over the backing track and Larry Mullen Jr. appears on drums.
Bono introduces "Atomic City" with the following announcement: "We just recorded this song in this last week, so we're making a video for this song... recorded in Sound City in Los Angeles last week, Atomic City, that's what it's called. We're gonna do it a couple of times, cause we're making a really low budget video. Is that okay? Okay, let's do this one more time! How's the Edge looking? How's Larry looking? How's Adam looking? But this is the world premiere of 'Atomic City,' a rock and roll 45 in the tradition of late 70's post-punk if you're interested: Blondie, The Clash, some early '70s Cozy Powell, ya' know who Cozy Powell is? Yeah, we'll take it from everywhere. Okay, this is Atomic City, are you ready? Are you steady? Ahh, I'm not so steady. Okay, give us a go, James... Thank you, roll track, COMEON!"
