For the first time ever, U2 played a concert in the country of Colombia tonight, in the capital city of Bogotá. The only other South American countries that U2 have performed in were Argentina, Brazil, and Chile. Bono paid tribute to his childhood hero, the Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Márquez, during "Bad". During "Beautiful Day", Bono excerpted a portion of Colombian superstar Shakira's hit song "Whenever, Wherever". Prior to singing "One", Bono stated: "This is for Colombia, that you may be one... our prayer".
