U2 returned to the nation of Chile in South America to perform at the same stadium in Santiago as their 3 previous trips to the country: Estadio Nacional. Chilean activist Victor Jara was honored tonight during "One Tree Hill" with the lyric: "Jara sang, his song a weapon". The 1973 Chilean coup d'état, centered on the Cold War and the nation of Chile, was alluded to by Bono throughout the evening, as he praised the Chilean citizens to create a brighter future after their hardships of the past.
