Remarks:

After performing at Live 8 in London earlier, U2 arrive late in Vienna and take the stage nearly an hour past schedule. A bit of 'Sgt. Pepper's', which they sang in London with Paul McCartney, is added to Beautiful Day. Running To Stand Still is again played as a dedication to Aung San Suu Kyi who recently celebrated her 60th birthday. The Kaiser Chiefs and The Killers, both of whom performed for Live 8, are replaced by The Magic Numbers and The Thrills as opening acts.

It was a great concert. After a rainy and cloudy day suddenly there was sun and good feeling in the stadium.
The Band came on stage rather late, since they were playing Live-8 earlier in the day, so it was already dark, when they started. At first I was in the middle and far to the back, since I am not the greatest friend of large crowds. The sound there was bad. I could hardly understand anything being said because of the echo coming back from the free-balanced roof of the stadium.
Later, around Bullet in the Blue Sky I went sideways, until I was standing behind the delay-line speakers. There the sound was excellent and the vibe among the people there was much better.
Generally I would not have belived a stadium concert could carry such a vibe, but I have seen differently...
The show with the lights and video-walls was superb and the songs were expertly delivered.

All in all a really great concert!
