Remarks:

Berlin, the city where U2 recorded Achtung Baby in the early 1990s, was the site of tonight's (wet) performance. Water was the theme throughout the night as a heavy drizzle fell throughout the show (the band excerpted parts of "Singin' in the Rain" and The Beatles' "Rain"). Bono paid tribute to the late rock star David Bowie as well, with excerpts of Bowie's "Heroes" and the German version "Helden", as well as "Rebel Rebel", "This Is Not America" and "Young Americans". After "Miss Sarajevo", Germany's Constitution (the "Grundgesetz"), appeared on the video screen. A happy birthday tribute was performed for Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai after "Mysterious Ways" too.
