Remarks:
Patti Smith made a surprise appearance at the end of this third concert at London's O2 Arena, to perform "People Have the Power" in a full band rendition. It was the first time since the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's 25th Anniversary Concert in 2009, that Patti Smith performed together with U2 on stage. "People Have the Power" has been U2's pre-show music at just about every show on the current tour. Also, U2's "Gloria" is performed for the first time in the country of England since August 3, 1987 in Birmingham. Van Morrison's "Gloria" is snippeted twice in the show and was the lead-in music to "People Have the Power". Another rare song performed on the tour, "New Year's Day", was played for only the second time (since it debuted on the tour in Berlin almost a month ago). Spotted in the audience included U2's former manager Paul McGuinness (to which the band dedicated "Beautiful Day") and Oasis' Noel Gallagher (who has been in attendance at every U2 show in London thus far).
