Remarks:
'All I Want Is You' is played for the first time this year. That song, along with the addition of 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' makes for a longer-than-usual main set. And that, combined with local curfew law might explain why the encore is shorter than normal.
Wow. I was having a crisis leading up to this. there was no way I was gonna get to the gig prior to 3pm. Anyhow got there for 4pm only to see major queing. Thoughts drifted to the messages i'd read regarding the previous night's chaos over front entry and wristbands. Got in and headed straight for a steward, who informed me there was a different strategy. Fast walked down the steps to the turnstyles and manouvered my way between the two sub stages (right next to the right hand one). Whilst trying to ignore the sudden onset of back ache and joint ache, I tried to ignore the fact that idlewild's sound was gradually deteriorating. refusing to move from my spot, others went for sustinance. Athlete came and went, soon the sound of the arcade Fire thundered over the speakers. It was time. It's very difficult to point out the various events of the gig, as I seemed to slip into some kind of dream. i remember Bono referring to the sexy city during the opening of elevation, the swapping of glasses with some girl on the right, as well as his theft of someone's 21st balloons. as it comes back to me, I'll update.
