Opening Act(s): No Doubt

Setlist:

Elevation, Beautiful Day, Until The End Of The World, New Year’s Day, Out Of Control, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Stuck In A Moment You Can’t Get Out Of, Kite, Wild Honey, Please, Bad-Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses, Where The Streets Have No Name, I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, Pride (In The Name Of Love). Remarks:

During ‘New Year’s Day’, Bono brings a young girl (possibly in the age range of 8-10 years old) on stage and carries her on his shoulders as he finishes the song. No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani once again joins Bono to sing ‘What’s Going On.’

Another awesome Elevation shows, this tour is spoiling me for all other live music events….

Back in the heart again tonight, right in front of Bono, which provided the added bonus of being able to fully enjoy Gwen Stefani’s many humorous facial expressions during No Doubt’s performance.

Great setlist tonight, Out of Control was great with Bono talking about traveling from Ireland to London to New York to the Bay Area to pitch their first 3 songs. I have to point out that the speech has been done the last several shows, with the final destination coincidentally corresponding to the city where they’re playing that night. That’s ok, it’s still a great speech and song.

My favorite moment of the night was when Bono sang the opening lines to Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses at the end of Bad. He did this in LA too, but this time the crowd sang the lines so loudly that he continued into the second verse and the chorus, with Edge (after momentarily floundering to catch up) switching from the Bad/Streets bridge to actually playing the Wild Horses chords. It was one of those great spontaneous live moments where they decide to screw the plan and just go with the energy the crowd is giving them.

Another great moment was when Bono made a long and funny apology for his lack of top end tongiht. Apparently his left hand snuck into a handbag, stole a cigarette, lit it, and put it in his mouth, all without his knowledge. I hate it when that happens!

All in all a great night. Note to all going to tomorrow’s shows - they’re not letting cameras in at all, so hide them!
