This concert is infamous as the only U2 concert to be missed by a member of the band. Adam Clayton was so severely hung over that he could not take the stage, and the show could not be postponed as it was a necessary rehearsal for the videotaping of the next night’s concert (which, as well as being recorded for official video release, was also to be broadcast live). Adam’s bass technician, Stuart Morgan, filled in on the bass, and Bono informed the crowd that Adam was “sick”.

Fan Review:

By van

This was my first U2 show……

I had massive expectations…..

I copped a MASSIVE shock when I entered the stadium & saw the massive set-up. Just Massive!

“Tonight is going to be massive” I remember thinking……

Edge rips into the massive intro riff of ZOO STATION…..

The crowds response was just as massive….& so too was the intensity of my heart beat…I thought I was having a massive heart attack!

Bono’s goose kick was just massiveness….

The Fly is 2nd, & the screens light up in a massive digital bombardment to ones mind….

The rhythm Larry & Adam were now driving was massive!…..The massive song comes to a close & Bono makes the most massive announcement…..

“Adam cannot make the gig tonight, due to his massive hangover”…..Man, this night was now MASSIVE!!! First time in 15yrs that one of the members wasnt to play a gig……THATS MASSIVE!

The BASS tech (STUART MORGAN)pulled off 20 odd MASSIVE BASS lines that most wouldn’t have picked bewteen his or ADAMS…..THIS WAS JUST MASSIVE!!!

The fact that my MASSIVE BASS IDOL wasnt present didnt phase my massive expectaions, as I was going to be there the next massive night…. A massive night being Telecast around the massive world to millions….
