Fan Review:

By Derek C

A show I will remember always. My first U2 show of many in the years to come.

"When we are in Memphis,we hear Gospel music......When we're in Chicago,we hear the blues......When we're in PHILADELPHIA.............we hear ROCK AND ROLL MUSIC!!!!!!!" - Bono, during "Still Haven't Found...."

100,000 people stuffed into the now gone JFK Stadium, site of Live Aid. The "Feed the World" sign was still hanging in the stands.

After finding that my seats were terrible, I ventured down to the field. As the intro to "Streets" came on the hair on my 17-year old arms stood on end. Thousands of hands thrust in the air as the classic Edge riff started. I have never had a feeling compare this. This was U2 at their commercial and artistic peak. 100,000 people singing every word to every song. Bono had his arm in a sling, but it didn't slow him down.

Other highlights: Unforgettable fire- sounded great, awesome under the stars. Stand by me - I wondered why everyone was booing! Why would they boo during the show? Then I realized - they were screaming "Bruuuuuuuuuce!!!!!" Reports were that he drove up to the show in a Volkswagon Beetle.

Most incredible highlight. If anyone claims to have been there, quiz them on what happened during Bullet the Blue Sky - anyone who was there will never forget it! Right after the beginning of the song, a huge jumbo jet - as if on cue - roars over the stadium. Everyone points skyward like a scene from "Close Encounters", it was truly incredible.

I've been to many U2 shows since (5 of Elevation), and nothing can compare to that night in Philadelphia!
