Greatest U2 show I have ever seen. The old Boston Garden took it's toll as a transformer blew just four songs into the set. Bono didn't miss a beat and beckoned..."F*CK IT...turn the house lights on!!!" and away we went. There were so many people in the Garden you could not even see the exits or the rows to walk to your seats for that matter. I sat/stood behind the stage in a Loge section. With the place as bright as a Christmas tree Bono went on a binge of rants and raves between songs. Then out of the blue someone threw a Larry Bird Celtics home jersey on stage. Bono held it up so everyone could see it...and asked in his Irish brogue "does anyone know this man" and the place went bonkers. Bono proceded to take of his cowboy hat..his leather vest and sash and he put on the Larry Bird shirt...you could not hear yourself think it was so loud. He then went on to sing deeper and more passionately than I ever thought possible. He then put his leather vest over the celtics shirt and said he needed some swagger...classic Bono. IF ANYONE HAS A PICTURE OF BONO IN THE CELTICS SHIRT___i would pay top dollar for it.
Hi M. Coady,
That shirt was my husbands shirt. Before the concert I asked him why he was wearing the shirt and he said he had a plan.
My husband threw the shirt up on the stage. We had 8th row floor seats directly in front of Bono. We got some great pictures!
Do you remember when he said, "We have the spirit of Larry Bird here with us tonight"?
So if you are still on this site, let me know!
Thanks,
Carla
