It wasn't in Katowice but in Chorzow ;]

the greatest musical experience i have been a part of: the image of the crowd during New Year's Day w/ 70k people waving red and white banners will be forever burned in my memory. My friend Aleksandra told me after the show, "I've never been more proud to be from Poland."

that was a wonderful show and I want to see that again!!! thanks for "WOWY" and "Pride" <-- I love that songs so much!!:)

I believe and I am pretty sure it was the biggest U2 gig on the European leg of Vertigo Tour. The atmosphere created by 70 thousand great people was something that not often can be experienced. Lots of fans were sleeping a night before the concert at the stadium gates to get the best possible place. At noon - three hours before the gates opened - the queue was very long. It was so hot that people were pouring water over their heads to get cooler as they couldn't get the bottles inside the stadium anyways. As people were literally dying from the heat, God sent some heave clouds and shortly before U2 appeared on the stage - we got some cloudburst. God thought "that's it" - you refreshed now and time for the best. It stopped pouring down and U2 apperead on the stage. The welcome was so loud that it only can be compered to a jumbo taking off. Hello, how are you, Bono said and it started.... The biggest night - for many people, in their life. The crowd was very enthiusastic and looked mesmerized. The climax was certainly New Years Day when those (including myself) standing on the pitch, were holding up red scarves and those on the stand -white ones thus creating a huge white and red Polish flag. It looked really amazing. Bono was moved with it and in a praying pose thanked the audience and turned his jacket inside out as it has a red lining. The crowd got mad. The other very special moment was when Bono dedicated Miracle Drug for the Polish unforgettable Pope John Paul II. You could see many people crying as Bono was telling the story about the sunglasses he gave to Karol Wojtyla. Many times Bono spoke "thank you" and "goodnight" in Polish and also spoke about Poland and even changed his lyrics in Beautiful Day " see brand new Poland in front of me"... At one time he invited the fans to Ireland saying that Polish people should come to Ireland as the both nations have a similar spirit and soul. The setlist was a similar to that of the other gigs. A nice surprise that the band played "All because of you" and "Running to Stand Still". During "I will follow" the sound of Edge's guitar was a bit too loud and not clear but nobody even took a notice :) That was indeed a great concert which left a strong emotional effect on both fans and the band and its crew. Let's hope that U2 will not miss Poland with their next tour as Polish fans are trully one of the best in the world.

excellent show, the band really kicks ass. only Springsteen can compete with them.
some complaints: why Vertigo twice? It is a relatively week song anyway... they could have played walk on instead. second: some members of the support bands played in the rain as the roof was too small (!) the staff even carried their amps and things in the rain(!!) UNBELIEVABLE. i wonder what would have happened if the rain did not stop. Bono would probably stay in that poor small garden tent. where would The Edge be i can only guess...
