Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses, it's the fifth track on U2 's 1991 album, Achtung Baby, and was released in 1992 as the album's fifth and final single. U2 has mentioned horses in many of their songs, and it's apparent they hold a very high regard towards the magnificent creature.
My opinion on Wild Horses - I believe they should be left roaming wild and free, however, I do realize a few on occasion need to be gathered, but not at the rate it is being done. Both Wild Horses and U2 have given tremendously to society. The horses, as well as the band, have inspired me through the years, have made me strive to do my best, and to give back as well. Too many wild mustangs and burros are being taken off their rightful land. At this time I'd like to ask all U2 fans to please go to my website www.wildmustangcoalition.org, to learn how you can take part in preserving America's Heritage.
In U2's latest CD, No Line On The Horizon, I was elated to hear they mentioned once again the beloved animal. It's stated in the third track.. Moment of Surrender, "To let the horses run free" I couldn't agree more with that statement, and I pray that the American Wild Horse does not disappear and become extinct as it will be the case if the rate of gathers continue. God Bless America's Wild Horses and U2, the "other" Living Legends.
Thank you,
Karen Mayfield
