A bit of information:
Back in March 2001, Karan Wadhera, a U2 fanatic and finance major at Boston's
Babson College, teamed up
with U2Station.com and launched a radio show dedicated
to U2. When the radio show was established, U2 had a brand new album out on
shelves, as well as their forthcoming Elevation tour, the first in four years.
The show primarily wanted to focus around U2's music, from classic hits, to live
songs, unreleased tracks, remixes, covers, and solo projects by the band's
members. However, Where The Show Has No Name eventually got recognition from U2
fans from all across the country, tuning in for the latest happenings in U2 news
(and on the Elevation tour). It all climaxed when Carter Alan, the Boston DJ
responsible for breaking U2 into the United States, came onto the show for one
night as a special guest. 1 month later, 9/11 occurred.
Then on October 31st, Mr. Wadhera with camera in hand got invited on stage by
Bono and the Edge during an Elevation concert in Providence, RI. Tragically
however, none of the pictures Karan shot came out, because the radio show host
ran out of film. Soon thereafter, the show quickly burned out when Karan
experienced a serious injury related to a car accident. His best friend and
co-host, Brian Bradley, suffered nearly paralyzing injuries.
The 1 year run (and 25 shows) that "Where The Show Has No Name" experienced was
indeed an unforgettable era in the history of U2Station.com, during which time
this site got nominated by VH1 for the "Coolest Fan Website" award (in November
2001). I, the webmaster, even personally tried to invite Karan to L.A. for the
My VH1 Music Awards. Karan and Brian couldn't make it but I attended and had the
guys in mind after the awards show ended and the partying began.
Presently we are in the process of looking for the lost audio archives so U2
fans can download them once again. For now, we present some pictures and
information below on a few dedicated U2 fans (the radio-types).
