Review: In God's Country [Cassette]

2 stars (out of 5)

By JT Griffith, All Music Guide

In God's Country was the fourth single off of The Joshua Tree, and was released in North America only. As a collectible, this single is somewhat hard to find, as it is not one of the band's radio hits. However, the track listing makes this less essential for the non-completist. The cassette single was, strangely, only released in Canada, while vinyl versions were available in the US. This single includes The Joshua Tree versions of "One Tree Hill," "Bullet the Blue Sky," and "Running to Stand Still," making it a hat trick of amazing songs from the album. But how many people would want these songs, and don't already own The Joshua Tree? Even though the song was not officially released in the U.K. (only in the U.S. and Canada), it peaked at number 48 on the U.K. singles chart due to the availability of imports.
