During the performance in Seattle, a clip of the concert shows frontman Bono dedicating "Beautiful Day" to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot in the head when she was attacked in Tucson.

]]> On a ginormous screen, the face of Commander Mark Kelly, who is married to Giffords, beams in from outer space with the words to "Beautiful Day" floating in zero gravity all around him. Kelly commanded that last space flight of the Endeavour shuttle in May, and made time to record a message for U2.

Patrick Healy's article in The New York Times extensively reviews what the new safety plan is, as well as reports on a private meeting lasting more than two hours held between the creators and producers of the show with the cast and crew.

Assemblyman Lancman will be talking to the press later today outside of the Foxwoods Theatre to expand on his five-point letter to Michael Cohl. He is also considering holding subcommittee hearings to investigate the safety concerns.

For now, there is every indication that the show will go on. As of today, actor Christopher Tierney is still in serious condition after surgery yesterday. There has been no official statement from Bono or The Edge at this time."...@u2

This is the current shibang for the Broadway show Spider-man. I am not a big fan of marvel comics now, as I was a child. I actually have even grown out of liking to watch many movies...maybe it is a thirties phase. That all besides the point, I just think the marketing team of U2 is brilliant. This if anything seems like a well planned scheme to get the fans in such anticipation and give the show such a buzz (which in the start, there was little). I will say that U2 is one of the only bands who have taken their music down so many different avenues, treated their band like a business, and have succeeded at world recognition. Many could not do this without creative minds and business leaders in the team. I just want to point out to all those haters that snarf every time they hear U2..well just think of them as very talented businessmen and give them a little respect. If anyone sees the Broadway show when it finally comes out I would love to read and post some of the reviews from different perspectives.

Well I like to not do the traditional posts that you will find on every site everywhere. I like to include what other musicians out there are doing as well..but this being a U2 fan site...obviously I must make it U2 based. So here you go. Another artist remade recently Pride (In the name of love). I am not a country fan. I went through the line dancing country phase of course. I do like this artist though. Dierks Bently. ]]> The hampster spun the wheel full speed for this one. The Opening track for the album creates the theme for the entire CD. This is going to take you on an electronic trip with brain boosting experimental sound to "Elevation". I will have to say U2 is one of the leaders in creating mixed renditions of their music. Most of the time being the fan of bands like Bjork, Portishead, Massive Attack, The knife, Beck and many more edgey bands, I tend to rave the reviews of these Cds and boost them even more than the original tracks.
"Fast Cars" remix is a perfect example of a song that is better than its original. If you haven't heard of this song before, it is not new, it was the bonus song on the Vertigo Cd that came with the Artwork book package, and I'm sure it was later accessable other places.
"Get on your boots" first remix of the album (two are on here see track number 10) I think only a real U2 fan would even recognize the song in the beginning. This is definatly a sweet doppleganger to its original and by far much more creativly laid down.
"vertigo" remix has this repeatitive guitar mix, pounding beat, and sound dubs which make it stand above the previous mixes for this tune. I love in the mid section when the beat slows and bono's powerful voice takes the song over.
"Magnificent" was my favorite song from the no horizon CD to begin with, and this mix just gave me another way of hearing a beautiful song.
"I'll go crazy if I don't go crazy tonight" Live remix is not my favorite. It does have spicy elements but I still prefer the original version on the no line on the horizon CD.
I bet many of you fans had to look at the CD back for this next mix to see what song it was, and you kept waiting for bono's voice to jump in. I love how the Guitar riffs and drum beat take this song by control and it's just so damn good of a sound..who needs lyrics anyways? and if your still wondering it is "beautiful day" sillys
HOLY BATMAN! "Staring at the sun" has had so many remixes it seems and on this CD is two and I love them both. This one is great to tap a shoe with, or heck get up and dance baby!
Space odessy..this mix of "happiness is a warm gun" took me on a dark trip to the stars
it is so out there and definatly fits in this CD.
DAMN! This is one of the best remixes of any song ever made I believe. U2 pulled a winner out of the hat this time. Honestly this should have been the original "Get on Your Boots" because it just exceeds the song initially and made it a true hit in my mind. The piano, oh man that made it, and the initial beginning to the song.
"City of Blinding Lights" remix..Base is killer, and the vocal mix compelling.
"If God Will Send His Angels" This one sounds to much like a mix I have already heard of this song, I like it but don't find it worth reviewing. So blah!
"Staring at the Sun" Perfect ending track. Above all the most entracing and a mellow remix to a favorite song of mine.
This Cd just goes to show you, U2 have marketing and music making down. They are rich mo-fos for a reason. They know their shit. There is so many avenues a song can take and they know how to utilize every road. So fans, I advise you to get your grubby little paws on this CD you will enjoy it, I guarantee it, with no money back!

THE ALBUM WILL BE RELEASED ON FEBRUARY 16TH

War Child announce the full list of artists and songs that feature on their new album "Heroes", released on Parlophone on February 16th.
The album concept is that the biggest legends in music history select one of their personal favourite songs from their own songwriting canon, and nominate a music hero from the next generation to create a modern reworking of that classic song. EMI has made a substantial upfront payment to War Child, and will release the album on its Parlophone label.
Parlophone are donating all their profits to War Child's work to protect the most marginalised children in war zones, who would otherwise be overlooked: street children, child soldiers and children in prison.

Looks like a relatively AWESOME CD....

Climbing the ladder to fame!/ and U2 updates.

It's been a while since I have bestowed my theories to band stardom so hang in there with me whilst I ramble for a bit. I have been wandering around in the local LA band scene with my camera a bit. I think big things are coming out of this area right now, it might be the grunge Seattle set up from the nineties..... except with indie rock music. Bands such as The Airborne Toxic Event, The Henry Clay People, Radars of the Sky, Aushua, Le Switch, Monolators; and not local but just the same Passion Pit and Band of Skulls; are setting up 2010 for great challenges in the music industry. You may ask what does this have to do with U2?.................

]]> Well, lucky you have me here to fill you in. U2 started out just as these bands are right now. In their local scene, local bars, local festivals, singing songs they created along with cover hits, barely got lucky with a record label and found the right manager. Still. What made U2 take over? How is their journey so triumphant? My theory is besides the fact U2 had a great team behind them, they treated it like a business, and were extremely talented, beyond all this, they stayed real and true. U2 kept the passion to perfect sound, to never settle, and to appreciate where they came from and who got them there (the fans). This connection they share and believe in rings true in their performances, where it can't be faked. Fans know if you are blurting the same line in between songs but just change the city name. You can tell if the performance is individual to the town you are in and if it is done for passion or money. If it's just a job, you won't make it in this biz. If you just want fame, you won't make it. You may have a few hit records, but the longevity U2 has will never happen. Only a band that can relate to its fans, continue to be creative, reinvent themselves with the current stream, and be real can achieve such greatness. The ladder has to be climbed with respect and one peg at a time, If you try to go to fast you will fall and the ladder will be stolen by another driven musician, this takes a great team to know how to play the cards and step up with the publicity and venue choices.
